Participants will explore a variety of age-appropriate reading interventions, and discuss how to build self-efficacy and foster independence to build motivation, engagement and confidence in readers, across ENL, classroom, and reading teacher colleagues.  What is the role of each of these teachers when working with the same striving readers, and how do we come together to help a child develop new language skills and new reading skills?

Traditional methods of science teaching often rely on student background knowledge and frontloading vocabulary instruction to achieve student understanding. These instructional techniques tend to leave gaps in equity and student success, particularly for ELL students. The New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS) and the instructional shifts that accompany them have been developed to address this issue. The goal of contemporary science instruction is to integrate science and language and move students from using everyday language to specialized language in science. In this webinar, participants will experience and reflect upon contemporary ways of teaching science with a focus on how to effectively address ELL needs. In particular, the ABC (Activity Before Content), and CBV (Concept Before Vocabulary) strategies will be explored.

"Co-teaching" models have changed dramatically since its inception. So where does co-teaching fit into the ever changing landscape of 21st century learning?Take a deep dive into what still works, what doesn't, and the new roles co-teachers play in our modern classroom.

This session will explore the intersection of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how MTSS frameworks can be aligned with DEI principles to ensure that every student, regardless of background or identity, receives the personalized support they need to succeed. Through discussion, one case study, and practical strategies, we will examine ways to address disparities, promote culturally responsive practices, and improve outcomes for all students. Attendees will leave with actionable steps to enhance their school's approach to both MTSS and DEI.
