Dr. Barbara Tischler Hastie has been an administrator at Ulster BOCES/Educator Edge for over 11 years, providing support to districts in Ulster County and several districts outside the county. Her role includes providing professional development for leadership teams in areas such as UDL, MTSS, strategic planning, and data-informed practices. Notably, she collaborated with the New York State Education Department, securing a grant to facilitate school improvement efforts. Additionally, she successfully obtained a $400,000 grant from the Department of Justice. This initiative aimed to train districts in Dr. Dewy Cornell's Threat Assessment practices to enhance school safety.
Dr. Tischler Hastie recently completed her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership, with a dissertation titled 'Allocation of Resources Aligned to District's Mission and Vision Statements' published in 2023. Furthermore, she authored an article in the journal "Thresholds of Education" titled 'A Story to Move Forward; A History of Past, Present and Future Ways of Responding to Education,' as part of their special issue "Mapping Possibilities: Creative Educational Responses to the Time-Space Disruptions of Climate, COVID, and Inequality."
In addition to her administrative role, Dr. Tischler Hastie serves as an adjunct professor at Mercy University, where she teaches in the Educational Leadership program.
